Saluki football’s home opener has lacked the fireworks fans had become accustomed with in recent history.

Four field goals have accounted for all the scoring until the final second.

Saluki sophomore running back Jonathon Mixon scored a one-yard touchdown on the final play of the half to give the Salukis a 10-9 lead over Southeast Missouri State.

The rest of the numbers are as equal as the score. SIU’s offense outdid the Redhawks by five yards, while SEMO has three more first downs.

SIU senior quarterback Josh Straughan went 11-21 in the first half for 110 yards.

Senior running back Will Young has done a majority of SEMO’s work, tallying 58 yards on the ground.
