Two former Salukis cut by Detroit Lions

Dreams of making an NFL roster fell just short this weekend for two former Salukis.
Tight end Adam Fuehne and linebacker Jayson DiManche were waived Saturday by the Detroit Lions in the final wave of cuts before the NFL season begins next week.
Twenty-one players were either waived or released by the team to reach the NFL-mandated 53-man roster.

The two would have been the first Salukis to play on the same team in the NFL regular season.

Fuehne appeared in every game in the preseason for the Lions, catching two passes for 10 yards, including a five-yard touchdown catch Thursday against the Buffalo Bills.
DiManche’s time with Detroit was much shorter.
He was picked up by the team Tuesday after being cut by the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Trenton, N.J., native picked up an assisted tackle and a pass defended in his lone game as a Lion.

During his three-year professional career, DiManche has played in 28 games, making 28 combined tackles and forcing one fumble.
