The Salukis continued their eight-game homestand with a midweek matchup against Lindenwood University Lions where the two teams squared off for a one-game contest on March 31. Both teams put up strong pitching performances, but a late-game rally allowed the Lions to scrape away the win.
Pitcher Alec Ammerman got the start for the Salukis and went seven strong innings, not allowing an earned run.

The Saluki offense got on the board first with an RBI sacrifice fly from third baseman Jaden Flores. The second inning run was the last time a runner crossed the plate until the top of the seventh inning.
Both pitchers did their thing, but a seventh-inning Lions’ run, cashed in on an SIU error, tied the game.
The Salukis had a runner on second with no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, but could not push the runner across. The evening contest was tied going into the ninth inning.

The Lions scored two runs on a long home run and a run-scoring wild pitch in the top of the ninth inning.
Shortstop Henry Kufa drew a walk with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but the Dawgs could not produce any runs, and the Salukis dropped their third straight game.
With this loss, the Salukis drop to 10-17 overall with a 1-2 record in conference play. The Lions improve to 12-16 overall. The Salukis continue a long stretch of home games with a three-game series from April 2-4. The Dawgs will resume Missouri Valley Conference play as they host the Redbirds of Illinois State University.
