Following a gritty series loss to Murray State, the Dawgs took a quick trip to Lindenwood University to face the Lions on April 28. The midweek matchup was cut short due to the mercy rule, and the Salukis walked away with a 12-2 loss.
Pitcher Ryan Halamicek got the start for the Salukis on Tuesday. The righty could not escape the second inning after allowing four early runs.

Catcher Jacob McKenzie got the third inning started for the Salukis with a leadoff single. Left fielder Kristian Sprawling deposited a triple into left field, driving in McKenzie and cutting the lead down to 4-1.
The Lions tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run double.
Neither team could cash in a run till the bottom of the sixth inning where a Lions’ home run kicked off a five-run inning.

The Dawgs faced an 11-2 deficit and loaded the bases in the top of the seventh inning. The SIU offense could not push across any runs.
An RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning was enough to enforce the mercy rule, taking the midweek contest 12-2.
With this loss, SIU falls to 17-26 overall. The Lions improve to 25-19. The Salukis will be back in action against the Indiana State University Sycamores on May 1-3.
