Following a high-scoring sweep at Bradley University, the Dawgs took a stop at Southeast Missouri State University to face the Redhawks before resuming Missouri Valley Conference play. The midweek matchup on April 21 was the second time this season the rival schools had duelled. Despite scoring the first run, the Salukis could not halt the Redhawks, losing the Tuesday evening contest 5-1.
Pitcher Gio de Graauw got the start for the Salukis and got through the first inning unscathed.

Second baseman Gabe Petrucelli lined the first hit of the day for the Salukis over the left field wall, giving SIU a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
The Redhawks answered with a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom half of the second inning.
The powerful SEMO offense mashed back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the third, upping its lead to 4-1.

Pitcher Charlie Miller came in for the Dawgs, and the sophomore delivered 3.1 innings of no-hit ball.
The Saluki offense couldn’t push across any runs, but the Redhawks added another on a seventh-inning RBI single.
Neither team notched any runs for the remainder of the game, leaving victory in the hands of the rivals.
With this loss, SIU falls to 16-23. The Redhawks improve to 29-12 on the season. The Salukis will be back in action at Itchy Jones Stadium on April 24-26. The three-game series features an exciting MVC matchup versus the Racers of Murray State University.
