SIU hits the links in Huntsville.com Intercollegiate, finishes ninth

The SIU women’s golf team traveled to Alabama to compete in the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate at RTJ at Hampton Cove. The Salukis finished ninth out of eleven teams, beating Holy Cross and Alabama State University. Lipscomb won the meet with a combined score of 872.

The Dawgs finished with a combined 941, shooting rounds of 312, 315, and 314.

Ayanna Habeel led the way for SIU, shooting 77, 78, and 77 for a combined score of 232. Habeel finished 32 overall Kylee Vaughan was close behind, shooting 80, 75, and 79 for a 234.

Ella Overstreet finished third on the team, with rounds of 80, 79, and 78 for a 237; Janie Samattyadeekul finished within two strokes, with rounds of 75, 83, and 81 for a 239.

Secilia Ho finished off SIU’s team, with rounds of 92, 83, and 80 for a 255. Morgan Gindler also competed as an individual , with rounds of 88, 84, and 85 for a score of 257.

The Salukis will have nearly two weeks to regroup and prepare before they travel to the Bama Beach Bash on Sunday, March 19.
