Former Saluki tight end MyCole Pruitt was drafted Saturday by the Minnesota Vikings with the No. 143 pick in the draft. 

The Vikings used the seventh pick of the fifth round to select Pruitt, who is No. 1 all-time at SIU with 221 career receptions. 

Pruitt is a 5.2 grade out of 10 on NFL.com. He finished his Saluki career No. 2 all-time in yards and touchdowns with 2,601 and 25 respectively.

Minnesota traded for the pick with the Detroit Lions. 

Pruitt is the first Saluki drafted since Korey Lindsey in 2011 and becomes the highest drafted Saluki since Brandon Jacobs went with the No. 110 pick in 2004.

Pruitt will join five tight ends on the Vikings roster, which includes Kyle Rudolph and Brandon Bostick.
