Police arrest armed suspect who fled to Indiana

After nine days of searching, officers arrested the armed suspect who was involved in the Oct. 20 shooting.

Carbondale police began their search for Antonio Watson on Oct. 20 in regards to a shooting. He reportedly fled the scene and was considered armed and dangerous. He was arrested at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Oct, 29 in Evansville, Indiana. 

An armed altercation took place between Watson and two male suspects on the 600 block of West Main Street on Oct 20. During this altercation, Watson reportedly shot the victim and fled the scene along with the two other suspects, according to a release by the Carbondale police.

Watson is awaiting extradition to Illinois for the charge of Unlawful Use of Weapons by a Felon.  

The United States Marshals Service and the Evansville Indiana police department assisted the Carbondale police department with this investigation, according to a release by the Carbondale police.
