By Juniper Oxford, Staff Reporter

SIU students will have the opportunity to interact with social media influencers and industry professionals at the BrandU event.

From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the Student Center River Rooms, students will be able to participate in the event, according to a press release.

The purpose of BrandU is to get SIU students thinking about brand building. The students will have the chance to hear directly from the professionals on how they developed their own personal brand and ask questions.

BrandU is going to have many guest speakers from within industries students at SIU plan to enter. The list includes creative directors, an esports commentator, professional photographers, a professional YouTuber and more.

The keynote speaker is Kevin Purcell. He worked with Microsoft founder Bill Gates as an organizational development professional.

The speakers will talk about how they branded themselves successfully within their fields and how they were able to turn hobbies into cash.
