Police arrest individual in connection with Saturday shooting

Police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the Saturday shooting incident near the Eurma Hayes Center in Carbondale.

The individual is currently in custody and has been charged with unlawful use of weapons and aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to a police press release. The Police Department is not currently releasing the identities of the individual in custody or the other individuals involved.

Three people were injured in the incident, which took place Saturday evening at the 700 block of North Robert A. Stalls. Officers were called at approximately 6:17 p.m.

According to the release, preliminary investigations revealed a dispute among acquaintances led to the gunshots.

The victims were transported to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment. Two of the victims received life-threatening injuries. Both are expected to be released from the hospital after successful medical treatment.

The third individual, who received non-life threatening injuries, has already been released.

The investigation is still active.
