Police identify pedestrian struck by train

UPDATE: Carbondale police have identified the victim in the collision as Beverly Carvell, 57, of Carbondale.

According to the latest press release from the City of Carbondale, there is no indication of foul play at this point in the investigation.

At approximately 6 p.m. Monday evening, Carbondale Police officers responded to a railroad crossing on Main Street in connection to an individual being struck by a train.

According to an earlier press release, officers determined the victim walked east bound across the railroad tracks and a northbound Canadian Northern freight train struck the individual.

As a result of the collision, the individual died, the release said.
