The annual photojournalism workshop, hosted by SIU School of Journalism, sends students to document a community in the region for an entire weekend. Professional photographers and editors from the industry are invited to the workshop as coaches who help the students with assignments by giving feedback throughout the weekend. Students are expected to shoot from dusk until dawn on all three days. “The experience of being outside of the classroom and working hands on with other photographers was well worth the lack of sleep,” Hess said.
