SIU campus will be closed Monday March 4, in response to inclement weather. According to the National Weather Service, the Carbondale area is expected to experience a total of four to eight inches of snow and sleet accumulation over night. Windchill values can reach as low as -7 degrees.

University spokesperson Rae Goldsmith confirmed the closing will take effect at 6 a.m. Monday, but some buildings will still remain in operation. The Student Center, Health Center, Rec Center, and Morris Library will remain open for student use.

“As always we encourage people to look at the pathways map on the school website,” she said. “Because those are the areas that will be cleared first, and we want students to remain as safe as possible.”

In light of the campus closure, The Daily Egyptian will return to regular printing on Tuesday, March 4.
