Going the extra mile

Lambert was a bulk fuel specialist in the Marines from 2008 to 2012. The event was sponsored by Hope for the Warriors, a nonprofit organizatixon that strives to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, as well as families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty, according to the Hope for the Warriors website. According to the Wounded Warrior Project, in recent military conflicts 51,876 have been wounded, 6,795 have died, 320,000 have traumatic brain injuries and 400,000 have post-traumatic stress disorder. Ninety percent of the $3,000 raised from the race will go to the Hope for the Warriors organization.
