Person struck by projectile near Morris Library

An individual was hit in the head by what he believed was a pellet gun at about 11 p.m. Monday near Morris Library, according to an SIU timely alert.

The victim, an unidentified male, was walking in the parking lot north of the library when he was struck. He suffered a laceration on the head, received treatment at the scene and was not transported to the hospital, according to the alert. 

The suspects were described as driving a light-colored four-door sedan which was last seen leaving the area on South Normal Avenue near Woody Hall. Police said there were at least two people in the vehicle.

DPS is investigating the incident.
