One person died and another was airlifted to a trauma center after a plane crash at Williamson County Airport on Friday.

In a press conference Friday, Williamson County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Brian Burgess said dispatchers were notified of the crash at 4:38 p.m.

Burgess said he spoke with Douglas Kimmel, the airport director, who confirmed the plane involved was a single-engine aircraft based out of Marion.

Kimmel only identified that two individuals were on board — the pilot and a passenger.

He said more specific information will not be available until the Federal Aviation Association and National Transportation Safety Board arrive at the scene.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
