Person shot during home invasion in Carbondale

One person was shot when two people sleeping woke up to someone in their bedroom Saturday in Carbondale.

Carbondale officers responded to the home invasion on the 200 block of West Cherry around 4:25 a.m., according to a press release. After the residents awoke, a second suspect a second suspect appeared and demanded money, when one of the suspects shot the victim in the leg. Both suspects fled the residence.

The victim was transported to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound and released, according to Carbondale Police.

The suspects, Willie William, 19, and a unidentified juvenile male, were arrested and charged with home invasion, aggravated armed robbery, aggravated battery with a firearm and residential burglary.

The juvenile was transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center and Williams was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
