Marisa Winegar, of Carbondale, paints a face Sunday during the eighth-annual Community Gay Pride Picnic at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Carbondale.

“I don’t consider myself an artist,” Winegar said. “I like to do things that are creative. I’m lucky I know that about myself.”

Winegar, who serves as the church’s choir director, said the church is welcoming of all sexualities.

“We like to say that God has an extravagant welcome,” she said.

Correction, Sept. 27: The event was the eighth-annual Community Gay Pride Picnic, not the fourth annual.
