One of the city’s underground music venues is bringing punk rock out of the basement and into the streets Saturday as it celebrates its 30th birthday.

Lost Cross — one of the country’s oldest punk houses — organized an outdoor party to mark the occasion with performances by local and touring bands. Music begins at 5 p.m. with opening band “Hans Predator” at Lost Cross, at 407 W. Elm St.

All-access wristbands are $15 and can be purchased Saturday at Lost Cross.

Sam Beard, one of Saturday’s event coordinators and a current tenant at Lost Cross, said bands come from around the world to play at the basement punk venue.

“It’s great that Carbondale has chosen to embrace and celebrate the independent music scene because it’s a form of pride for this city,” Beard said.
