A former SIU track and field athlete finished in the top-20 in the world in the women’s long jump Tuesday evening during the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Representing the Bahamas, Bianca Stuart, a 2009 SIU graduate, placed 16th in the women’s long jump preliminaries with a jump of 6.45 meters. The jump failed to advance her to the finals.

Stuart, born in Nassau, Bahamas, was a two-time All-American at SIU and placed 18th in the 2012 London Olympics.
