Update: DeAnna Price qualifies for the hammer throw finals, will compete for gold on Monday

Two former SIU track and field athletes are representing Team USA today in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

DeAnna Price and Gwen Berry finished in fourth and seventh respectively in the hammer throw.

Price, who won the NCAA championship for SIU last season in hammer throw, finished the qualifying round with a 70.79 meter throw.

After scratching her second throw, Berry finished strong with a 69.90 meter throw.

Price graduated from SIU in May and Berry graduated in 2011.
