The Carbondale Police Department and SIU Department of Public Safety both released the number of citations issued during Unofficial Halloween, which took place this past weekend.

CPD reported a preliminary total of 45 citations, eight fewer than in 2014. Ten of the 45 from CPD were issued to university students. DPS reported a preliminary of 11 citations.

Thirty-four of the 45 citations issued by CPD were for underage possession or consumption of alcohol.

The Department of Public Safety issued five citations to students for underage consumption or possession of alcohol — down from 23 in 2014.

CPD reported two DUI incidents as well as two accounts of possession of marijuana.

DPS reported three citations of students for possession of marijuana, two less than in 2014. They also cited three individuals for fighting.

CPD issued six individual citations for use of intoxicating compounds, littering, battery, amplified sounds, resisting arrest, control of premise and drug paraphernalia.

Police responded to a fight in a parking lot and arrested four non-students: three for resisting arrest and the fourth for both resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

One student was arrested for aggravated battery and assault; the victim was treated in the emergency room and released.

Carbondale Police said there were no serious injuries reported.
