Senior middle hitter Taylor Pippen broke an SIU volleyball record Saturday.

Her five block assists in the 3-1 victory against Northern Iowa put her career total for block assists to 384 — breaking the record set by Chandra Roberson in 2009.

“Our system that we run is a lot faster than most, our best asset is our speed”, Pippen said. “We work hard in practice to get to our spots.”

Pippen is also the leader for SIU volleyball career attack efficiency. Before the season, Pippen had a .334 career efficiency. She is hitting for a .391 efficiency this season, which leads the Salukis.

Pippen has led the Salukis in block assists (129, 99) and total blocks (142, 107) in the last two seasons.
