A southern Illinois man faces 240 felony charges of criminal sexual assault following an investigation by Illinois State Police detectives and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Ronald C. Yarber, 48, of Equality, is being held on $250,000 bond at the Saline County Jail in Harrisburg.

Yarber has been charged with 16 felony charges of predatory criminal sexual assault and 240 felony charges of criminal sexual assault of a family member.

Yarber was a foster parent for the state, but Illinois Department of Children and Family Services officials say the alleged victim in the case was not a foster child.

Investigators said the number of charges filed against Yarber stems from the number of alleged incidents of sexual assault of a family member.

The most serious charges were based on the age of alleged victim at the time. Court records show the alleged sexual misconduct occurred between July 2004 and September 2009 at the Yarber’s home in Saline County.
