Day 3 of MAC swim and dive ends with two champs

The SIU swim and dive team ended the third day of the Mid-American Conference championship with an individual champion and a relay team championship.

Sophomore Joao Facciotti set a new MAC championship record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.02 seconds, then placed second in the 100-yard backstroke 0.2 seconds behind the first place swimmer.

The 400-yard medley relay team set a new pool record of 3:12.43. Senior Till Pallmann, who won the 500-yard freestyle on Thursday, swam lead leg of the event after placing second in the 200-yard freestyle swim. His teammates, juniors Bobby Wood, Andre Aqunio and Andre Luiz Brillhante finished :0.07 seconds ahead of the second place team from Eastern Michigan University.

SIU remains in fourth place after the third day of competition. It is 60 points behind Buffalo, who sits in third place.
