SIU Entrance with Student Services Building

The Daily Egyptian apologizes for an error in the Sept. 27, 2023 print edition in the story “Broken Promise: SIU’s schools, departments lose autonomy over millions in key funds.” A quote from Professor Bill Freivogel was mistakenly attributed to Chancellor Austin Lane in a pull quote.

The Daily Egyptian asks readers to remember this is a student-run, student-produced newspaper that is a learning lab. We are currently reviewing editing processes to insure content is buttoned down before going to the printer. We will print a retraction in next week’s edition.
