Salukis compete in GolfWeek/AGT Intercollegiate, finish 15th

The SIU men’s golf team traveled to South Carolina on Tuesday and Wednesday and played against some stiff competition in GolfWeek’s Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate.

The Dawgs, who finished 15th, carded rounds of 298, 291, and 293 over the two days, finishing 18 strokes over par and shooting a combined 882.

All of the Salukis finished within 8 strokes of each other, and Carson Siliman was only 12 strokes off of the individual leader.

Siliman was the top golfer for SIU, placing tied for 32nd and finishing with a 73, 71, and 75 for a total of 219. Braden Hoisington was close behind, finishing in a tie for 36th while scoring a 74, 72, and 74 for a total of 220.

Justin Wingerter improved in each round and was only one stroke behind Hoisington, shooting a 76, 74, and 71 to finish with a total of 221 and tied for 39th.

Hugo Archer tied for 47th, with rounds of 76, 75, and 73 giving him a total of 223. Markus Wihelmsen was the final Saluki competitor, shooting 75, 74, and 78 to finish with 227.

The Salukis have over a week off before they travel to Bloomington, Indiana to compete in the Indiana Intercollegiate on April 8.
