Salukis finish top 3 at the final meet of the fall season

The Dawgs traveled to Iowa City, Iowa to compete in the Iowa Fall Classic, in which SIU took home the third-place trophy out of nine teams. The tournament took place from Sunday to Monday, October 16-17. 

The Salukis finished behind Iowa (1st; 884) and Valparaiso (2nd; 890). The Salukis finished with 906 total points to finish third. 

Iowa golfer Mac McClear won the classic, scoring a total of 214 over the three rounds. Southern Illinois’ top golfer was senior Tom Cleaton, who finished with 223 points, which was good enough for 10th.

The next best golfer for SIU was sophomore Braden Hoisington who finished tied for 11th, scoring a 226. This meet will conclude SIU golf’s fall season. 

SIU’s next competition will be the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Rice University. It will take place from February 20-21.
