The Salukis headed to Bank River, Michigan to compete in a meet hosted by South Dakota State, the Island Resort Intercollegiate, held at the Sage Run Golf Course. This was also the SIU men’s golf team’s first meet of the season.

The Dawgs were led by Braden Hoisington, who scored a total of 216 on the weekend, which was good enough for 15th. He was followed by Carsen Silliman, who finished 23rd with a score of 219.

As a whole, the Salukis finished 7th, with a score of 874 (+10). SIU’s Missouri Valley Conference rival Illinois State tied with Toledo to take home the gold medal, both teams finishing with a score of 856 (-8).

Southern Illinois hopes to put on a better performance next Monday-Tuesday, September 12-13, where they will be competing in the Wildcat Invitational. Last year the Dawgs finished 9th out of 13 schools, so they will hope to climb up the ladder in this fall matchup.
