Men’s golf finishes in 12 in final tournament before MVC Championship

SIU men’s golf traveled to West Lafayette, Indiana for the Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Purdue April 10 through the 11.

Kent State won the tournament with a score of 852, shooting under 280 in both the second and third rounds.

Southern finished tied for 12 with Toledo out of 16 teams in the invite with a team score of 891 across three rounds of play.

Freshman Justin Wingerter led the way for the Salukis finishing in a tie for 21 with a score of 218, shooting his best in the final round with a score of 69.

Junior Matthis Besard finished one stroke behind Wingerter in a tie for 23 with his best round coming in the first round with a score of 69.

Next up Southern travels to Flossmoor, Illinois for the MVC Championship on April 25.
