Saluki track and field finish third outdoor meet of the season

The Saluki track and field team competed in the Tom Botts Invitational at the University of Missouri on April 9 and 10 and seven Salukis finished in the top five.

For the women’s track and field team, sophomore Bri’Yanna Robinson finished in second place in the shot put with a throw of 14.75 meters. She was followed by senior Elisia Lancaster in eighth place and freshman Kaitlyn Burson in ninth.

Redshirt senior Shauniece O’Neal took the fourth place spot in the hammer throw with a throw of 61.40 meters and Lancaster finished in fifth followed by redshirt sophomore Emily Kern in sixth.

Freshman Stephanie Antiones finished the 5000- meter race in fifth place with her personal best time of 17:58.26. Southern also took second place in the javelin with a throw of 38.86 meters by senior Emma Sexton.

On the men’s side, the Salukis finished in second and sixth place in the hammer throw with senior Ricky Hurley finishing second with a throw of 66.19 meters and sophomore Dylan Beaird finishing in sixth with a 55.54 meter throw.

Freshman Ethan Senti came in third place in the 5000-meter race with the personal best time of 14:49.89. Freshman Uriah Guthrie finished the event with the time 15:07.18 earning ninth place.

The Salukis next outdoor meet is April 23-24 for the Clark Wood Open in Louisville, Ky.
