Women’s golf place tenth in Bama Beach Bash

The SIU women’s golf team competed in the Bama Beach Bash on March 19-21 in Gulf Shores, Ala. The Salukis finished in 10th place with a total score of 938.

Southern finished round one of the Beach Bash in ninth place with the score 318. Central Arkansas (298) was in first place, followed by University of Louisiana at Monroe (300) and Little Rock (302).

Senior Emilyee McGiles led the Salukis with a score of 76, which tied her for 13th place. Freshman Janie Samattiyadeekul was tied for 42 with the score 79.

Following them was sophomore Ayanna Habeel who was tied for 50th with the score 80, senior Moyea Russel with the score of 83 and fifth-year Erica Kerr with the score of 87.

SIU remained in ninth place after round two with the score of 626, while ULM took first place with the score of 591 with South Alabama and Central Arkansas in second and third.

McGiles and Samattiyadeekul tied for 22 place after the second round scoring 153 points and Habeel and Russel were both tied for 48 place with 160 points.

After round three, the Salukis finished with a score of 938 leaving them in 10 place. McGiles finished tied for 30 with Habeel tied for 32 and Samattiyadeekul tied for 39.

South Alabama took first place with 891 points and ULM and Texas State tied for second place with 900 points. 

Southern will tee off again on March 29-30 with the Diane Daugherty Invite in Kirkwood, Mo.
