COVID-19 Update: Jackson County reports 33 cases, 1 death

Jackson County Health Department reported 33 new cases of COVID-19 and one death on Wednesday.

The cases included two individuals under 10, five teens, four in their 20s, four in their 30s, seven in their 40s, four in their 50s, one in their 60s, four in their 70s, one in their 80s and one in their 90s.

As of Wednesday, there have been 3,314 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 50 deaths, according to the release, and 2,869 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 116 cases and one death Wednesday.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 7,123 confirmed and probable cases on Wednesday and 146 additional deaths.

As of Wednesday, there have been 870,600 positive cases in the state of Illinois and 14,655 deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
