Carbondale Elementary School District #95 is moving to remote learning starting Monday Nov. 16, as recommended by the Jackson County Health Department, according to a release sent out by the district.

“We have been in frequent contact with the Jackson County Health Department throughout this entire situation,” the release said. “This recent recommendation is due to the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases in Jackson County. This rapid rise in our community is concerning for our students and staff. Local transmission is at a significantly elevated risk, and the Jackson County case count this week is at a record high.”

The district doesn’t expect to return to in-person classes before the winter break, which is from Dec. 21 through Jan. 2021.

“At a later time, we will release an exact date for returning to in-person learning. When we make that decision, we will offer you a new survey to share the learning model that best fits your family situation,” the release stated.

Parents can expect their child’s teachers to share an updated schedule for next week.

If anyone should have any questions regarding the change in schedule, they are encouraged to contact their child’s respective school.
