The Missouri Valley Football Conference announced their spring schedule on Sept. 24.

The eight-game schedule begins on Feb. 20 for SIU with a game against South Dakota State and ends on Apr. 17 with a game against Illinois State.

The SIU football team is ranked No. 24 in the FCS and will play its first two games in Saluki Stadium against No. 5 South Dakota State and Indiana State on Feb. 20 and Feb. 27 respectively.

SIU will also face Youngstown State, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, North Dakota, and Western Illinois during the spring.

Southern will play a total of four home games, with the final two being against Northern Iowa on Mar. 20 and Western Illinois on Apr. 10.

Attendance capacity and allowance for the games and kickoff times will be announced at a later date.

In last year’s standings for the MVFC, North Dakota (8-0) was ranked No. 1, followed by Northern Illinois (6-2).

Illinois State (5-3), South Dakota State (5-3) and Southern Illinois (5-3) were tied for No. 3 in the MVFC.

South Dakota (4-4) was ranked No. 4, followed by Indiana State (3-5), Youngstown State (2-6), Missouri State (1-7) and Western Illinois (1-7).

SIU’s earliest matchup will take place on Oct. 23 at Saluki Stadium against non-conference opponent Southeast Missouri State University. This will be the only game the Salukis will participate in for the fall. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
