Cab driver robbed at gunpoint

Sgt. Heather Reno of the Carbondale Police Department reported an armed robbery at 3:45 a.m. Sunday at 1400 N. Illinois Ave.

A cab driver said he was approached by three men after he was called to pick up a customer, according to a press release. One man allegedly produced a gun and demanded money. The driver was hit in the face and head with an unknown object, but did not require medical treatment, the release said.

The suspects left the scene on foot. The investigation continues.

The first suspect is described as a 6-foot-2 black male weighing 160 pounds between the ages of 17 and 21 with long, frizzy hair last seen wearing a blue nylon jacket with a red or white stripe.’ He was armed with a black, snub-nosed revolver.

The second is a 5-foot-10 black male weighing 130 pounds, and 17-19 years of age.’ The last suspect is a black male 5-foot-10, medium build between the ages of 15 to 17.
