Crime Report: Wednesday’s lunchtime shooting

The occupants of two vehicles, one silver and one black, began shooting at each other around 11 a.m on Wednesday and evaded police custody, according to a Freedom of Information Act request the Daily Egyptian filed with the Carbondale police.

Officers responded to the 500th block of North Washington street in response to a call of shots fired. According to the release, police “flooded the area” but were unable to identify the suspects or locate the vehicles. 

No one involved in the incident has come forward to the police and there have been no reported injuries.

This is the fourth gun related incident in Carbondale within a week.

The police aren’t releasing additional information at this time, this investigation is active and ongoing and the story will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
