Carbondale police investigating shooting death

Carbondale police responded to the 700 block of South Rawlings Street for a death investigation at approximately 3:17 p.m. on Feb. 14, according to a police press release.

During the investigation, officers and detectives learned a female and male couple were involved in a domestic dispute. The male suffered a gunshot wound during the dispute and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

There were no other parties involved and no other reported injuries.

The victim is currently not being identified, pending notification of next of kin. The investigation of the incident is currently active and ongoing.
