SIU continues reorganization, launches five new schools

SIU kicked off the new year by introducing five new schools as part of its ongoing reorganization.

The five schools are the schools of Agricultural Sciences, Analytics, Finance and Economics, Education, Human Sciences and Management and Marketing, according to a release by the university.

These schools join seven that were started  July 1, 2019, including the schools of Applied Engineering and Technology, Biological Sciences, Computing, Earth Systems and Sustainability,

Health Sciences, Justice and Public Safety and Psychological and Behavioral Sciences.

Meera Komarraju, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, said discussions about the other proposed school are still moving forward.

“The administrative organization of our academic programs has been a collaborative process,” Komarraju said. “While there is work ahead, we can take pride that in what we have accomplished is due to the hard work and contributions of our faculty and staff; our thanks to them.”

The Illinois Board of Higher Education is reviewing a proposal for a reorganized College of Business and Analytics and the school of Electrical, Computer and the school of Biomedical Engineering Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering have been forwarded to the president’s office according to a release by the university.
