University Housing will be opening the residence halls at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, instead of Saturday morning, due to major storms forecasted in northern Illinois. 

Trueblood dining hall will be serving an evening meal Friday from 4-6 p.m. to accommodate early arrivals, according to a post on University Housing’s Instagram account.

According to the National Weather Service, a large multi-hazard storm is forecast to impact the Plains and Midwest starting Thursday evening and widespread severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and tornadoes are expected across the South.

Heavy rain and flooding are possible from the Plains to the Mississippi and Ohio Valleys.
