Junior Brianna Jones of the SIU softball team was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for the eighth time in her career, the league announced Monday.

At the USF Under Armour Showcase last weekend, Jones posted a 3-0 record and compiled 23 total strikeouts. In each matchup, Jones went the distance and threw a shutout in two of her three victories.

On Friday against Quinnipiac, she tossed a total of nine shutout innings in a game that SIU walked off in the bottom of the ninth inning.

After a masterful weekend, Jones improved her record to 11-1 on the young season, which leads the MVC. She also ranks second in the league with 86 total strikeouts.
