Former SIU president picked to fill vacant board seat at JALC, report says

Former SIU president Glenn Poshard was selected Tuesday to fill a vacant seat on John A. Logan College’s Board of Trustees, according to a recent report.

The former university president was appointed following an emergency meeting of the community college’s board of trustees and is to fill the position immediately, according to a report from WSIL-TV.

He takes the place of board member Bill Alstat, who died in late August.

Poshard served as SIU’s president from 2006 to 2014. Prior to his work at SIU, he served for five years as an Illinois State Senator and spent nine years as a U.S. Representative.
