For a man who just showed up in the United States less than a year ago, Charnchai Tangpong is making all the right moves.

After arriving from Thailand in January, Tangpong captured the SIUC table tennis championship from a field of14 people just more than a month later.

I have played table tennis since I was five years old, Tangpong said. I’m enjoying playing here too. I’ve met good friends through table tennis.
