Recently, (Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1995) the Daily Egyptian published an article about an upstart alternative publication. This Conservatively correct paper is supposed to be a response to the liberal press now available on this campus.

Let’s set the record straight. The DE is nothing more than a sounding board for the administration, and the administration, and this administration is anything but liberal. Secondly, if you are like me you’re fed-up with the Andrew Ensor story. On his quest for political attention he acts as if politics on this campus would wither and die without his vigilance. I do agree that the administration needs to be watched, but what is needed cannot possibly be provided by a political lackey like Ensor.
What is needed, in response to the DE, is a publication free from convenient labels such as conservative or liberal. These terms belong to a by-gone era, and need to be replaced by our generation. In our uncertain political landscape we need an independent publication representing all ideas, allowing the reader to choose the best course of action. In 1992 and again in 1994, voters expressed frustration with the status-quo. If this trend continues we face certain civil unrest. We need a paper free of popular labels that has no affiliation with any party.
