SIUC women’s golf coach Diane Daugherty calls Molly Hudgins a classic overachiever.
The senior has climbed many mountains throughout her time spent at SIUC . Hudgins was No. 3 in scoring for the Salukis last season. An 83.3 stroke average ranked her 15th in the Missouri Valley Conference. In last season’s MVC tournament, she finished 12th in a field of 46.

redshirt freshman and used the experience to improve on her fundamentals. Hudgins raised her stroke average to 85.5 her sophomore year on the squad.
Six to eight hours of her day are spent on the golf course, but Hudgins said she does not mind.
The minute I don’t have fun doing it, or don’t want to be there, I’m going to leave, She said. It’s just something I like to do.
Hudgin’s desire to succeed does not end when she leaves the clubhouse.
Hudgins, an Academic All-MVC selection, has made the Dean’s List four times at SIUC, maintaining a 3.65 grade point average.
If you want to succeed in life, you have to be well rounded, she said. I put hard work into everything I do.
Coach Daugherty that Hudgins possesses real leadership qualities.

She is a good leader on and off the golf course.
Hudgins said she hopes to be fulfill these expectations.
I want to be a leader for the team, both on and off the course, she said. I want to be around for my teammates.
Hudgins said she is approaching the upcoming season with confidence.
If you stay positive, then positive things will happen to you.
The Saluki’s begin their fall season at the Illinois State Classic in Normal, Ill. Sept. 9-10.
