Head coach Gene Shaneyfelt said he was pleased with McClure’s performance.
Shaneyfelt said that McClure was leading the field until the final few holes.
At the end of 28-holes, he was leading the tournament, he said. He had a couple bad breaks and lost it.
Golfers Erik Pieper, Talbert, Goodwin and Aaron Pieper gave SIUC support, scoring in the 80s during both days of competition.
Morehead State won the tournament with a total of 604.
Shaneyfelt said he plans to build upon the experience.
We’ve only got one way to look, and that is up, he said.
The Salukis travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa Sept. 14-17 for the 22nd Annual Northern Iowa Golf Classic.
