The third time was not a charm for a Carbondale man who attempted to catch a burglar that repeatedly entered his trailer early Saturday morning.

Police said J. Kent Kroencke, of 2571 S. Illinois Ave., reported that someone entered his trailer between 8 a.m. Oct. 27 and 4 a.m. Oct 28.

Police said Kroencke left his home Friday morning and when he returned he found several of his shirts missing.

Kroencke left his home again around 1 a.m., and when he returned home around 2 a.m. he found more shirts missing along with a few videos and cassette tapes.

Police said Kroencke then left his trailer again around 4 a.m. but returned immediately. Kroencke reported that he hid inside his trailer hoping that the burglar would try again.

The police reported that the burglar returned minutes after Kroencke pretended to leave his trailer. Kroencke allegedly wrestled with the suspect outside, but the suspect got away.

The suspect is described as a white male, 35 to 45 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, 165 pounds and is reportedly bald on the top of his head with brown hair on the sides.

Carbondale Police Sgt. Luanne Brown said there are no suspects yet, but the investigation is continuing.

We have by no means given up on this yet, Brown said.
