Gears creator’s new game and new gaming streaming service

This week was slow in video game news, but there are still a few big stories to mention.

‘Gears of War’ creator releases series of trailers for his next game

This week, Boss Key Productions, headed by Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinksi, revealed a series of trailers for the upcoming free-to-play shooter called “LawBreakers.”

Wednesday’s first trailer was a brief teaser showing the graphics of the game using Bleszinksi’s former studio Epic Games’ Unreal 4 engine. The game sports a clean and colorful art style.

The second trailer explained the game’s premise. “LawBreakers” takes place years after humanity has recovered from a tragedy called The Shattering. Gravity, however, has not and the game has a strong emphasis on verticality.

The final trailer, provided above, was the most interesting because it showed gameplay. The trailer showcased the verticality discussed earlier in the week with players jumping, flying and swinging around the environments. It introduced four characters: Kitsune, Breacher, Maverick and Chronos, and their unique abilities.

Overall, this game seems promising and hopefully the public will learn more soon.

YouTube launches its own game streaming service

YouTube Gaming went live, with the official release on Wednesday.

Game streaming is a free service when using a website or application, a person can stream what they are playing on the internet to be watched by anyone.

Currently Twitch.tv has a stranglehold on the game streaming scene, with millions of people visiting the site daily. YouTube Gaming is hoping to get in on that market.

The new service has some features Twitch.tv does not. Viewers can rewind live streams on YouTube Gaming, which Twitch does not allow. This is handy if someone joins a stream late and misses a portion of it.

YouTube Gaming certainly has the means and money — with the YouTube name and Google’s financial backing — to compete with Twitch.tv. Time will tell if the company will achieve it.

‘The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt’ sells six million in six weeks

CD Projekt Red’s good fortune continues as the company reported Wednesday that six million copies of their fantastic, fantasy role-playing game “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” have been sold.

Released this June, the game was reviewed extremely well. This game is a masterpiece.

After announcing the news, Head of Studio Adam Badowski released a statement thanking fans and saying it is the studio’s responsibility to maintain their standard of quality to not let fans down.

“One could think we have six million reasons to be happy and that’s it. We do, but that number is also a big responsibility and I want everyone to know that we, as a studio, realize that,” he said.

The full statement can be found here.

Sixteen pieces of free additional content have been released for the game already. Furthermore, two expansion packs are planned to be released for the game, one later this year and the next early next year.
