The sentencing of Labron C. Neal has been changed because of a conflict in Judge William Schwartz’s schedule, defense attorney Paul Christenson said.

The sentencing originally was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at the Jackson County Courthouse in Murphysboro. Neal now will be sentenced at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the courthouse.
On Sept. 10, Neal was convicted on six counts of first-degree murder in the Aug. 11, 1996, shooting deaths of James Austin Campbell, 15, of Murphysboro, and Terrance Mitchell, 16, of Carbondale, at Carbondale Mobile Homes.
Neal, 18, of Carbondale, faces a minimum sentence of 20 years and is eligible for natural life in prison. He is not eligible for the death penalty.
