Police are investigating a theft that occurred sometime between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Monday at 801 N. Giant City Road. A construction foreman reported that two torpedo-style kerosene heaters, valued at $400 each, were taken. There are no suspects.

A University employee reported that glass panels at the greenhouse located near the Agriculture Building and Morris Library were broken sometime between 11:50 a.m. Sunday and 3 p.m. Monday. There is no estimate on the amount of damage, and police have no suspects.
Matthew D. Poppe, 22, of Carbondale, was arrested at 8:14 p.m. Monday on a Jackson County warrant for failure to appear in court. Poppe was also found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license. He posted $250 cash bond and was released.
Johnnie L. Lewis, 18, and Curtis T. McDonald, 18, both of Carbondale, were taken into custody at 10:05 p.m. Monday and charged with aggravated battery and reckless conduct after a bicyclist reported being shot with a pellet gun as he rode through Sam Rinella Field. Police investigating the incident found Lewis and McDonald to be in possession of two pellet pistols that closely resembled automatic pistols. Lewis and McDonald remain at Jackson County Jail pending a court appearance.
